Dances for a Small Stage + the PuSh Festival
PuSh Festival and Small Stage are teaming up to bring back this critically acclaimed and wildly popular Vancouver institution—and this time, it’s bolder and braver than ever!
This experience immerses audiences in a world of magic as it draws on the nuances of Weimar Cabaret and a dynamic range of dance styles to present an innovative new showcase of vibrant works by visionary local, national and international dance artists who are pushing the boundaries of the dance and cabaret worlds.
This collection of 10 original works span a dynamic range of dance from ballet to jazz, contemporary to modern, flamenco to performance art, musical theatre and more. Featuring emerging to senior artists embracing the short form, Dances for a Small Stage provides a platform for some of today’s most exciting dance and performance art makers to push the boundaries of artistry and innovation while challenging convention.
Expect edge-of-your-seat short works with power, precision and exuberance that represent a generational shift, blending traditional styles with contemporary influences.
Each piece is just 5-7 minutes long, unfolding on the company’s signature 12ft X 10ft stage, which turns minimal space into a magical canvas for posing thought-provoking questions.
Held in an off-beat, intimate cabaret setting, this show offers a unique experience designed to ignite your senses. Come prepared for an evening of stirring, provocative and truly unforgettable dance performances. Word on the street is this event holds unexpected delights—surprises await, but only those who join will discover all that the night has in store.
